During January, the Wellington's Botanic Garden Sound Shell plays host to the ASB Gardens Magic Concert Series, which is part of
the Summer City programme of music and
performance.
On a beautiful summer’s evening the Wellington Botanic Garden Sound Shell is a delight. A small
expanse of lawn surrounded on all sides by exquisite gardens is perfect to while away a magic time
of year.
The lawn is ideal for a relaxed picnic venue (accommodating between 400 and 600 people) and the
surrounding gardens and hill-sides account for many more when the event is larger.
At other times of year the Sound Shell is part of the huge area that is the Wellington Botanic Garden. Close by is the Duck Pond, Treehouse Visitor
Centre, Fragrant Garden
and Camellia Valley. Take a walk over the rise on Pine Hill Path and you’ll discover the Herb
Garden and further on the beautiful Lady Norwood
Rose Garden and Begonia House. Here
you’ll find The Dell, which also hosts
many outdoor events.
