The Paramount has been an icon on Courtenay Place since 1917. Since August 2004 it has undergone substantial renovations and now features three screens: the Paramount (500 seats), The Bergman (60 seats) and the Brooks (40 seats). There is also a lounge bar with a verandah overlooking the bustle of Courtenay Place. The Paramount is home to such festivals as Out Takes, Date Palm, World Cinema Showcase and the Italian Film Festival as well as the annual Telecom Film Festival.

Year round the Paramount screens a diverse range of films from around the world, leaning towards the edgier, cutting edge of international cinema. Remembering the glorious history of film is also important to us at the Paramount, so classic films often find their way to our screens.

Supreme coffee is available at the Paramount from 7am with the addition of our kiosk on Courtenay Place. The bar is stocked with a wide range of beers and wines as well as soft drinks, snacks and Kapiti ice-cream which we chocolate dip for you while you wait. No icy, freezer burnt choc-tops here!

All three cinemas, and the lounge, can be hired for functions, fundraisers, presentations and other events.
